This PhD project focuses on investigating the infection mechanisms of archaeal viruses, specifically chronic infection in halophilic viruses. The research involves studying the molecular mechanisms of essential viral infection cycle steps, such as attachment, entry, and release, as well as archaeal cell surface properties, using (halo)archaea as model systems. The project integrates microbiology, genetics, microscopy, and biochemical tools within a dynamic and enthusiastic work environment equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
