This PhD position seeks a motivated and creative candidate to develop next-generation porous transport layers (PTLs) and microporous layers (MPLs) for Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolyzers (PEMWEs). The project focuses on building a multi-scale computational model to capture the complex transport of gases, liquids, and charges within these porous structures and their interfaces. Insights derived from this model will directly guide the manufacturing and optimization of advanced PTL/MPL architectures, aiming to improve efficiency, durability, and reduce precious-metal requirements. This unique opportunity combines modeling, simulation, and experimental validation at the forefront of electrochemical energy conversion, contributing to the global transition to green hydrogen.
