**Job Description**
This PhD project is part of HARMONI, a large-scale Horizon Europe-funded research project aimed at developing a platform for improved prevention, monitoring, and response to Natural Hazard-triggered Technological (NaTech) disasters affecting critical infrastructure. The project involves a detailed assessment of existing risk methods, better use and exchange of protocols and data, and the application of Digital Twins, satellite, and sensor data across 6 European use cases. The ITC’s specific focus will be on monitoring and response, building on prior work with UAV/drones, computer vision, machine learning, change/damage detection, and multi-data integration, with a particular emphasis on reinforcement learning and collaboration with partners like the German Aerospace Centre (DLR).
**Skills & Abilities**
• Prior experience in computer vision and deep/reinforcement learning.
• Very good programming skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong command of the English language.
• Ability to engage with scientists from different fields (engineering, robotics, ICT, SSH, etc.) and cultures.
• Very good analytical and writing skills.
• Relevant prior publication experience (asset).
• Prior expertise in disaster risk management (asset).
• Prior expertise in UAV technology (asset).

Required Degree(s) in:
• Geo-informatics
• Computer science
• Robotics
**Experience**
Other:
• Prior experience in computer vision and deep/reinforcement learning.
• Relevant prior publication experience will be an asset for the PhD thesis.
