**Job Description**
This PhD position at Eindhoven University of Technology focuses on the in-situ investigation of crystallization and melting processes of Phase Change Materials (PCMs) in compact heat storage devices. The research involves using advanced 3D imaging techniques, specifically Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and X-ray Computed Tomography (CT), to visualize and analyze internal processes like phase transitions, flow dynamics, and stratification. The project aims to understand how crystallization impacts the power output of heat storage devices and to develop validated multi-physics simulation models for heat transfer, flow behavior, and phase changes. This work contributes to thermal storage solutions for energy transition, local grid balancing, and improved efficiency of renewable energy generation.
