**Job Description**
The School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Adelaide is offering an industry-supported PhD opportunity with Codan, a global leader in communications and sensing technologies. This project focuses on exploring novel microwave sensor (uWS) designs for integration with or operation alongside metal detectors, aiming to deliver cutting-edge detection capabilities. Applications include detection of subsoil layers, utilities, landmines, IEDs, UAV-based minefield mapping, through-wall detection, advanced sensing for pipe and cable location, and geological mapping. The successful candidate will join a vibrant research community and work alongside industry leaders, contributing to technologies with real-world humanitarian and defence applications, with a potential pathway to employment with Codan post-PhD.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Experience with RF systems, antennas, or embedded electronics will be highly regarded

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Electrical Engineering
• Physics
• Signal Processing
• Related fields
