**Job Description**
This Ph.D. position offers a unique opportunity to address significant questions about species extinction by developing tools that enhance the accuracy and accessibility of genomics. The role involves working at the intersection of palaeogenomics, bioinformatics, and evolutionary biology to overcome challenges in analyzing degraded or low-quality DNA, enabling reliable genomic inference for species previously hindered by technical or financial limitations. This technically ambitious project aims to develop and apply novel bioinformatics methods to reduce bias and improve accuracy in genomic analyses when high-quality DNA or close reference genomes are unavailable, with the potential for field-defining impact in evolutionary and biodiversity genomics.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Proficiency in programming/scripting (e.g., Python, R, or Bash)
• Familiarity with next-generation sequencing data and genome assembly tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
