**Job Description**
This fully funded PhD position focuses on the intersection of computational design, robotic fabrication, and environmentally performative architecture. The research investigates how 3D printed clay systems-such as columns and claddings-can function as material-driven climate regulators, providing passive environmental comfort while advancing architectural expression. The project aims to advance digital fabrication for a post-carbon built environment by combining robotic extrusion techniques with parametric design methodologies to explore how unfired or low-fired earthen components can improve thermal regulation, humidity buffering, and acoustic performance. It also engages with the cultural and historical dimensions of environmental design, relating historical applications of clay to new digital fabrication practices for climate crisis responses. The research involves producing computationally generated prototypes and developing a critical theoretical framework to articulate both technical innovations and broader design imaginaries.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Interest in developing new, complementary skills to the research topic.
• A research-oriented attitude.
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
