**Job Description**
A Ph.D. position is available focusing on applying computational skills, particularly bioinformatics, AI/ML, and data science, to discover new insights in industrially important Actinomycete bacteria. The role involves mining large genomic, transcriptomic, and metabolomic datasets to investigate transcriptional regulatory networks. The successful candidate will work closely with experimental biologists to uncover novel insights, propose new ways to manipulate and engineer strains for use as biocontrol agents, and contribute to the development of sustainable agricultural products.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Proficiency with Python
• Experience implementing various Machine Learning algorithms and interpreting their outputs
• Experience generating and using protein embeddings
• Solid understanding of genomics and molecular biology
• Knowledge of bacterial secondary metabolism (major advantage)
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• A two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master’s degree, preferably in Bioinformatics, AI/ML, Data Science, or a related computational/biological field.
**Experience**
Other:
• Applications may be submitted prior to obtaining the master’s degree, but commencement of the Ph.D. program requires the degree to have been received.
