This PhD position is part of the EU Horizon Europe Marie Sklodowska-Curie Doctoral Network (MSCA DN) SMARTTEST project, aiming to develop a health condition monitoring system for older adults after hip fracture surgery. The goal is to continuously and accurately monitor patients’ recovery, timely detect, and predict adverse clinical events such as delirium, cardiac arrhythmias, and pneumonia, ultimately reducing complication/mortality rates and improving quality of life. The researcher will focus on developing physiological-model-based artificial intelligence technologies using multimodal physiological signals (IMU, ECG, PPG, EDA, contactless signals) to achieve these objectives, and will also design and execute medical research experimental protocols, including obtaining ethical approval.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Expertise in physiological-model-based artificial intelligence technologies.
• Experience with multimodal physiological signals, including Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Electrocardiography (ECG), Photoplethysmogram (PPG), and Electrodermal Activity (EDA).
• Familiarity with contactless movement and physiology signals.
• Ability to design and execute medical research experimental protocols.
