**Job Description**
Nord University invites applications for a Ph.D. fellowship within the EU-funded project “Forever chemicals in the Arctic – Toxicological assessment of PFAS compounds in fish and risk to humans.” This project aims to develop novel biological knowledge regarding the toxicity of PFAS compounds accumulating in Arctic fish and assess their relevance for food safety and human health. The Ph.D. candidate will be responsible for planning and conducting laboratory experiments with zebrafish and salmon, analyzing data, and searching for exposure and effect biomarkers of PFAS chemicals.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Hands-on experience in conducting field or laboratory experiments
• Experience in fish physiology, behavioral assessment, transcriptomics, and bioinformatics (advantageous)
• Analytical skills and good knowledge about research methods relevant to the proposed project
• Ability to work independently, goal-oriented and systematically
• Proficiency in oral and written English
• Ability to speak Norwegian or another Scandinavian language (advantageous)
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Ecotoxicology
• Environmental or Molecular Biology
• Equivalent fields
Other:
• Grade average of B or better (or equivalent score) for both the Master’s program and Master’s thesis
• For applicants from outside the EU/EEA, NOKUT approval of Master’s degree is required
• Admission to the faculty’s doctoral program is assumed
• Candidates who already have a Ph.D. degree will not be considered
