**Job Description**
This Ph.D. project is part of the NWO KIC Smart Materials project, Smart Materials for Information Processing (SMIP), which aims to revolutionize computing by developing adaptive, smart materials that combine memory and learning directly within their structure. The project focuses on memristive materials as electronic realizations of the hysteron concept, central to SMIP. The goal is to develop and integrate these materials into a self-learning chip prototype, enhancing performance and durability for applications, particularly in the automotive sector, through collaboration with the NanoElectronics (NE) group at the University of Twente and the Infomatter group at AMOLF.

Annual Salary: €36,708 - €46,572 (gross, ranging from first to fourth year) Benefits: Holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%, a solid pension scheme, a minimum of 232 leave hours (plus 96 extra for 40-hour week), free access to sports facilities on campus, and parental leave (both paid and unpaid).
