**Job Description**
This PhD project, based at the SURFCAT section of DTU Physics within the CAPeX Pioneer Center, focuses on developing and testing new experimental approaches for fast and sensitive product detection in electrochemical and electrocatalytic reactions. The core objective is to advance the state-of-the-art in detecting reaction products to accelerate materials discovery for Power-2-X technologies. The project aims to improve the experimental feedback loop for machine learning models used in materials prediction, specifically focusing on the automated testing and benchmarking of new materials candidates for their activity and stability. A significant part of the work will involve designing and upgrading existing hardware to enable automated detection of non-volatile products.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Highly motivated to help solve the global energy problem.
• Strong experimentalist skills.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: Analytical electrochemistry, Vacuum science/surface science, MEMS chip design and fabrication including clean-room experience, Robotics (hobby level acceptable).
• Proficiency in analytical techniques such as QMS, ICPMS (mass spectrometry), and gas chromatography.
• Desire to learn new skills, including CAD (e.g., for 3D printing), programming (e.g., Python), and MEMS chip design and fabrication.
• Driven, self-motivating, with discipline and grit as demonstrated by track record.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills.

**Qualifications**
• A two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master’s degree.
• Excellent grades in relevant courses.

**Experience**
Other:
