**Job Description**
The PhD project, funded by NWO under the PERSIMMON project, aims to improve kidney transplantation outcomes by personalizing immunosuppression. The core focus is to gain a deeper understanding of the pathophysiology of antibody-mediated rejection (ABMR), the mechanisms underlying donor-specific antibody (DSA) formation/ABMR, and the specific role of innate immunity, particularly NK cells, in these processes. This research is critical for developing improved treatments and better outcomes in ABMR and kidney transplantation, which is the preferred treatment for end-stage kidney disease patients, despite complications from immune rejection like ABMR.
