**Job Description**
Mälardalen University is seeking a PhD student to join a research team specializing in the analysis and modeling of multiphase flows. The research focuses on developing a fundamental understanding and numerical models for multiphase flows, crucial for various industrial processes. The successful candidate will develop advanced physics-based methods in fluid dynamics and heat transfer, integrating theoretical and experimental fluid dynamics with modern computational tools. The project also involves applying machine learning and computer vision techniques to enhance data analysis, pattern recognition, modeling, and prediction, potentially including collaboration with external academic and industrial partners.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Ability to successfully complete doctoral-level studies.
• Solid understanding of fluid dynamics and heat transfer.
• Interest in interdisciplinary approaches involving AI and data-driven methods.
• Strong expertise in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics, with an emphasis on both theoretical and practical applications.
• Proficiency in programming and data analysis tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
• Experience in machine learning and AI, particularly deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, and their application in fluid dynamics and heat transfer research.
• Experience working in Linux environments.
• Excellent proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
• Ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams and work with both industrial and academic partners.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently while being an effective team player.
• Willingness and ability to engage with industry partners and stakeholders and apply research findings to real-world challenges.
• Ability to collaborate and interact with colleagues and students with respect.
• Responsibility for the organization and own tasks.
• Contribution to a positive work environment.
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Advanced level higher education (minimum 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 are at an advanced level)
• Mechanical Engineering (MSc)
• Thermal Engineering (MSc)
• Related field (MSc) with a strong focus on fluid dynamics, energy systems, heat transfer processes, multiphase flows, or similar areas
**Experience**
Other:
• Experience with multiphase flows and advanced modeling methods for these systems.
• Experience in machine learning and AI, particularly deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow.
