**Job Description**
The successful candidate will join the Extreme Environments team at ISEM (UMR 5554) and collaborate closely with partners of the ANR FIRE-LANDES project, including the University of New Mexico (USA), the University of Quebec at Rimouski (Canada), the Chrono-Environnement Laboratory (France), and GEODE (France). The PhD student, enrolled at the University of Montpellier, will simulate vegetation and fire risks in the Landes de Gascogne region of France from the end of the Holocene to 2100. The project aims to understand how changes in vegetation composition have affected landscape flammability over time, using the LANDIS-II forest landscape disturbance and succession model based on palaeoecological data. The student will have access to ISEM’s facilities and technical/IT platforms and will collaborate with project researchers and a postdoctoral fellow.
