**Job Description**
This three-year project investigates the interactive effects of microplastic contamination and drought on soil properties, soil microbial communities, and plant performance, including the legacy of such effects across subsequent plant generations (plant-soil feedback). The research aims to develop a conceptual framework to predict the role of microplastic as a catalyst or antagonist of drought in terrestrial ecosystems. The candidate will join the international and interdisciplinary Plant Ecology group and the EVEREST research school, with support for scientific independence, qualification, career planning, and networking.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Keen interest in the study of plant and soil ecology, plant-soil feedback and global change ecology
• Good quantitative skills
• Solid knowledge of experimental ecology
• Scientific curiosity
• Enthusiasm for research
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to integrate well in a team
• Excellent knowledge in plant and soil ecology and global change ecology
• Previous experience in planning and conducting ecological experiments
• Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written)
• Good programming skills (e.g., in R)
