**Job Description**
This Ph.D. project seeks a student for the aerothermal design of an outlet stator (turbine rear structure, TRS) for an ultra-efficient aircraft engine. The goal is to develop a novel, ultra-short outlet stage design with unprecedented efficiency and reduced weight, incorporating 3D-optimized end-walls through additive manufacturing. The research combines numerical and experimental work, conducted in tight cooperation with GKN Aerospace Sweden, aiming to contribute significantly to CO2 reduction in air traffic.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Strong interest in fluid dynamics and aerodynamics.
• Ability and motivation to work in a fluid dynamics laboratory environment.
• Good proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Relevant coursework in fluid dynamics, turbulence modeling, CFD, and turbomachinery (meritorious).
• Experience with CAD and CFD tools (e.g., Ansys Fluent, CFX, StarCCM+, OpenFOAM) (meritorious).
• Programming skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB) (meritorious).
• Knowledge and/or practical experience with measurement techniques in fluid dynamics and heat transfer (meritorious).

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Mechanical Engineering
• Aerospace Engineering
• Engineering Physics
• or equivalent
