**Job Description**
The Department of Molecular Biology at Umeå University is seeking two PhD students in Medical Science with a focus on Molecular Biology, Immunology, Tumor biology, Developmental Biology, and Evolution. These temporary, full-time positions are dedicated to doctoral education and research, with project 1 investigating host genome editing processes in invertebrate model systems to understand human immune system antigen receptor diversity, and project 2 researching how tumor cells evade immune surveillance in human cells. Both projects involve advanced experimental techniques and aim to train first-class researchers within a dynamic research environment that includes the Department of Molecular Biology, MIMS, and UCMR.

• Experience in immunology, cell and molecular biology, imaging techniques, and CRISPR/Cas9-based approaches (for Project 2 – highly valued).
• Experience in programming in image analysis or willingness to develop such skills (for Project 2 – asset).

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• University degree equivalent to a European University Master degree or completed course requirements of at least 240 credit points, of which at least 60 credit points should be at second-cycle level.
• Minimum 30 credits in chemistry (including at least 7.5 credits biochemistry).
• Minimum 45 credits in biology or molecular biology (including at least 7.5 credits genetics and 22.5 credits in microbiology, physiology, and cell- and molecular biology).
• Minimum 45 credits from second cycle studies in cell- and molecular biology (including an independent work of at least 15 credits).

**Experience**
Other:
• Prior experience with basic laboratory techniques is required.
• Experience in specific research areas (immunology, developmental biology, imaging, CRISPR/Cas9, bioinformatics/programming in image analysis) is highly valued for respective projects.
