**Job Description**
This role involves writing a doctoral dissertation, which can be in English or Swedish. PhD students will have the opportunity to formulate their own research project, ideally suited to the Language and Culture research environment, with a preference for specializations in language/interaction or comparative literature/literary studies. Interdisciplinary projects are also welcomed. The position also includes potential teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20% of full-time, and requires a high level of on-site presence to contribute to the intellectual climate.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Good command of English.
• Preferably also command of other languages.
• Ability to successfully carry out doctoral studies (creativity, maturity, independent judgements, critical analyses, specialised knowledge and experience).
• Expected to learn Swedish during the first two years of the Programme if not proficient.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Master’s level (or equivalent)
• Courses with a minimum of 240 credits, at least 60 of which must be in advanced-level courses.
• 120 credits (ECTS) or equivalent in a subject central to the PhD Programme in Language and Culture (e.g., comparative literature, general linguistics, Swedish, English and Nordic languages).
