**Job Description**
This Ph.D. fellowship in applied terrestrial ecology aims to define sustainable harvest levels for grouse populations. The candidate will collaborate with a research team to assess sustainable recreational harvest levels for willow ptarmigan, black grouse, and capercaillie through a large-scale randomized controlled experiment, with opportunities for international collaboration and fieldwork.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Proficiency in English (oral and written)
• Good knowledge about population ecology
• Good knowledge about natural resource management
• Knowledge of software R
• Strong skills and/or interest in mathematical and statistical modelling
• Ability to conduct fieldwork in remote alpine areas
• Proven record in scientific writing (e.g., published scientific papers)
• Excellent analytical skills
• Excellent collaboration skills
• Ability to work both independently and in teams
• Positive, balanced personality
• Ability to think creatively and critically
• Good communication and interaction with colleagues and students

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Ecology
• Related field (Master’s degree, 120 ECTS, with grade average of B or better for program and thesis)

• Relevant experience from research work will be emphasized.
• A proven record in scientific writing (e.g., having published scientific papers) is a strength but not a prerequisite.
