**Job Description**
Ghent University is seeking a Post-doctoral Assistant to conduct academic research, dedicating at least 70% of the assignment, within the Liquid Crystals and Photonics (LCP) research group. This role focuses on electro-optic materials and components, specifically acting as the first point of contact for the fabrication and characterization of chips with electro-optic functionality. The position also involves assisting in departmental teaching activities for Master’s and Bachelor’s programs in Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, and Photonics Engineering, as well as counseling Bachelor’s, Master’s, and doctoral students.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Experience in design and cleanroom fabrication of electronic or photonic chips.
• Experience in working in a cleanroom environment.
• Experience in operating equipment for lithography, etching, thin film deposition, or other micro- and nanofabrication equipment.
• Distinguished as a promising researcher during doctorate.
• Profound interest in coaching students in Bachelor’s, Master’s, and/or Advanced Master’s programmes.
• Excellent teaching and communication skills in Dutch and English.
• Interest in valorization of research and willingness to collaborate with industrial players for research results valorization.
• Ability to present relevant scientific publications in (inter)national peer-reviewed academic journals that are widely disseminated.

Required Degree(s) in:
• Doctor of Engineering Physics
• Doctor of Electrical Engineering
• Doctor of Photonics Engineering
• Doctor of Science: Physics
• An equivalent degree

• 4-10 years of research experience.
• Prior research within the field of electro-optic thin films for integrated photonics.
• Experience in design and cleanroom fabrication of electronic or photonic chips.
• Experience in working in a cleanroom environment and operating micro- and nanofabrication equipment.
