**Job Description**
The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) and the Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi are seeking a Post-Doctoral Associate for a project focused on geomechanical modeling for energy applications. The research will specifically involve advanced modeling of coupled fracture/damage in geomechanical materials under various multiphysical loading regimes, including hydraulic, thermal, and chemical processes. The project’s applications are aimed at enhancing models for hydraulic fracturing and carbon sequestration.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Research experience in computational mechanics and computational geomechanics
• Experience in modeling geomechanical systems
• Experience in modeling hydraulic fracturing and carbon sequestration
• Experience in Multiphysics modeling in solid mechanics framework
• Experience in non-linear solid material response and fracture modeling
• Experience in machine-learning modeling for solid mechanics applications
• Experience in the development and coupling of numerical methods for solid mechanics modeling
• Experience in digital rock technology, including advanced imaging and related analysis
• Experience in the performance of high pressure and temperature triaxial tests
• Experience in experimental rock mechanics
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Engineering Mechanics
• Civil Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
