**Job Description**
This Postdoc position offers a unique opportunity to understand extinction through cutting-edge computational approaches. The successful candidate will develop a predictive framework linking genomic data to extinction risk, operating at the intersection of evolutionary genomics, simulation modelling, and machine learning. This involves integrating forward-in-time simulations, real genomic data from extinct and extant species, and machine learning to create a foundational tool for predicting extinction risk and advancing genomics in conservation science.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Solid programming skills in a relevant language (e.g., Python or R)
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across disciplines
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Bioinformatics
• Computational Biology
• Evolutionary Genomics
• Related field
**Experience**
Other:
• Experience with population genetic simulations (e.g., SLiM, msprime, or similar)
• Familiarity with calculating genomic summary statistics (e.g., diversity, inbreeding, mutational load)
• Interest in machine learning applications (experience is a plus but not required)
• A strong understanding of evolutionary and population genetic principles
