**Job Description**
The Nephrogenetics unit, led by Prof. Dr. Matias Simons at Heidelberg University, is seeking a motivated postdoc to lead research projects focused on lipid cell biology and metabolism, primarily utilizing the Drosophila model. The unit’s overarching mission is to enhance the understanding of molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying inherited kidney disorders, aiming to improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of common kidney diseases. Current research emphasizes lipid metabolism in kidney physiology and pathophysiology, specifically investigating the roles of nephrocytes and oenocytes in circulating lipid composition. This position, funded through an ERC Consolidator Grant, offers an exciting opportunity within a stimulating work environment that fosters scientific collaborations across the Heidelberg life science community.
