**Job Description**
DTU Sustain invites applications for a Postdoc position focused on developing innovative approaches for controlling indoor environments and building systems. The role addresses the global need for energy-efficient and sustainable heating, cooling, and ventilation (HVAC) solutions that optimize occupant comfort, health, and well-being, given that people spend most of their time indoors. The successful candidate will identify limitations in current building and HVAC control practices and develop advanced control strategies, including those for conventional HVAC systems using existing thermal comfort models, and new controls for Personalized Environmental Control Systems (PECS), potentially incorporating wearable heating/cooling and machine learning. The work involves statistical modelling, data-driven modelling, dynamic building simulations, and experiments in climate chambers and field studies, with active contribution to national and international projects.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Ability to work independently, plan, and execute complicated and challenging tasks.
• Flexible, self-motivated, interested in collaboration, and takes personal responsibility for work.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Some level of spoken and written Danish is a benefit but not a requirement.
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Ph.D
**Experience**
Other:
• Experience in building and HVAC control systems.
• Experience in evaluating indoor environmental quality and HVAC system performance by means of measurements in climate chambers and in buildings.
• Worked with dynamic building simulation tools for indoor environment and energy performance assessment of buildings (experience in using TRNSYS or IDA ICE is an advantage).
• Previous research experience in statistical analysis, data-driven modelling, and machine learning for indoor environment and building applications is an advantage.
• Previous research experience in carrying out experiments with human participants is an advantage.
