**Job Description**
UCLouvain is recruiting a post-doctoral research assistant for the Past2Future project, focusing on the dynamics of the Cenozoic geological period. The role involves using and developing simple models to simulate and understand Cenozoic dynamics, which includes hyperthermal events of the Eocene, the development of Antarctica, and the emergence of glacial-interglacial cycles. The primary objective is to characterize this period’s dynamics using non-linear time series analysis methods and to establish a basis for interpreting data-driven identification of climate regimes and punctuated equilibria. The successful candidate will join Michel Crucifix’s research team, active in non-linear climate dynamics on long timescales, and will be hosted at the Earth and Life Institute (Climate Division).

**Skills & Abilities**
• Previous experience or demonstrated knowledge in palaeoclimate dynamics and climate modelling (advantageous).
• Knowledge or prior experience in dynamical systems theory (advantageous).
• Demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Comfortable with academic research requirements (interactions, scientific writing, communication).
• Proficiency in LaTeX.
• Good programming skills (R, Python, or Julia, with capacity to learn).
• Familiarity with, and readiness to apply, principles of open research (code versioning, licensing, collaborative editing).
