**Job Description**
The successful candidate will perform research within the Interfacial Processes Group to understand molecular-scale processes at aqueous-electrode interfaces related to water purification in the AMEWS EFRC. This will involve the use and application of various interfacial probes, including synchrotron-based X-ray reflectivity, optical holographic interferometry, and scanning probe microscopy. The role includes experimental design, data interpretation, and the presentation of results at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed literature.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Considerable knowledge of probing interfacial reactivity through in-situ and operando approaches.
• Knowledge of synchrotron-based x-ray scattering techniques (e.g., coherent diffraction imaging, X-ray reflectivity).
• Knowledge of scanning probe and/or optical microscopy.
• Considerable knowledge of interfacial chemistry or materials science.
• Knowledge of experimental techniques in interfacial science.
• Knowledge of mathematical techniques and computer programming for data analysis.
• Skill in working interactively and productively in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Good skill in oral and written communication.
• Good record of publication and external recognition in relevant areas.
• Good skill in the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Ability to model Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Interfacial Chemistry
• Materials Science

**Experience**
Other:
• Recent or soon-to-be-completed PhD (within the last 0-5 years)
