**Job Description**
The Water Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks a Postdoctoral Associate to lead an innovative project focused on membrane surface patterning for water treatment applications. The role involves developing hybrid processes for the recovery of minerals from desalination reject brine, including the development and testing of novel membrane materials, adsorption, ion exchange, and solvent extraction at lab and pilot scales. The candidate will work towards creating low-cost, environmentally sustainable systems to mitigate the environmental impact of desalination waste streams while recovering economically valuable minerals.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of membrane fabrication and characterization.
• Experience with desalination and other water treatment processes, including working at both the bench and pilot scale.
• Excellent experimental and analytical skills relevant to the project (in particular membrane fabrication, materials characterization, aqueous chemistry, and desalination processes).
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Demonstrated history of peer-reviewed publications in a related area (preferred).
• Prior expertise in materials science and environmental chemistry (preferred).
• Experience in assessment of environmental impacts of processes, such as life cycle analysis (desirable).
