**Job Description**
The Water Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to lead an innovative project on membrane surface patterning for water treatment applications. The role focuses on developing hybrid processes for recovering minerals from desalination reject brine, involving the development and testing of innovative membrane materials, adsorption, ion exchange, and solvent extraction at lab and pilot scales. The candidate will design and test hybrid systems to achieve low-cost, environmentally sustainable solutions for reducing desalination waste impacts while recovering economically important minerals.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of membrane fabrication and characterization
• Experience in desalination and other water treatment processes, including working at both bench and pilot scale
• Experience in assessment of environmental impacts of processes, such as life cycle analysis (desirable)
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent organizational skills
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team
• Excellent experimental and analytical skills relevant to the project (membrane fabrication, materials characterization, aqueous chemistry, and desalination processes)
• Demonstrated history of peer-reviewed publications in a related area
• Prior expertise in materials science and environmental chemistry (preferred)
