**Job Description**
This position is a postdoctoral fellowship in Indology within the MANTRAMS project (“Mantras in Religion, Media and Society in Global Southern Asia”), an ERC Synergy Grant. MANTRAMS is a six-year interdisciplinary research project that aims to produce a global history and anthropology of mantras, leveraging the expertise of scholars on Southern Asia. It will examine mantra transmission across spaces, media, and religious communities, including diasporic networks, new religious movements, yoga, and the internet, using approaches from Indology, anthropology, sound studies, media studies, art history, and the history of religions. The project will create comprehensive sonic, visual, and digital textual archives to document the transcultural and multisensory dimensions of mantras, leading to diverse academic deliverables. The successful candidate will be attached to GREI in Paris and work under the supervision of Andrea Acri, Associate Professor in Tantric Studies at EPHE.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Good knowledge of Sanskrit.
• Experience in editing and translating Sanskrit texts, especially those belonging to the corpus of early Śaiva Tantras, Śaiva Siddhānta, and Śaiva Purāṇas.
• Proficiency in English.
• Ability to write scholarly output in English.
• Previous work on mantras (considered a plus).
