**Job Description**
This postdoctoral fellowship, for an initial 12 months (renewable for another 12), is offered in Indology as part of the MANTRAMS project, “Mantras in Religion, Media and Society in Global Southern Asia” (ERC Synergy Grant no. 101118934). MANTRAMS is a six-year interdisciplinary research project dedicated to creating an unprecedented global history and anthropology of mantras. It aims to document how mantras have been transmitted across spaces, media, and religious communities for over 3,000 years, using approaches from Indology, anthropology, sound studies, media studies, art history, and history of religions. The project will generate comprehensive sonic, visual, and digital textual archives, culminating in various academic deliverables. The successful candidate will be attached to the GREI in Paris and work under the supervision of Andrea Acri, Associate Professor in Tantric Studies at EPHE, the project’s Partner Organization.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Good knowledge of Sanskrit.
• Experience in editing and translating Sanskrit texts, especially those belonging to the corpus of early Śaiva Tantras, Śaiva Siddhānta, and Śaiva Purāṇas.
• Proficiency in English and ability to write scholarly output in that language.
• Previous work on mantras (considered a plus).
