Postdoctoral position associated with the project “Dressing the Saints”

**Job Description**
The University of Oslo seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the “Dressing the Saints: Gendering and Othering in Netherlandish Art at the Dawn of a Globalized World” (DRESS) project. This project offers a novel research agenda for art history and material culture studies, hypothesizing dynamic and flexible ontologies within textiles enrobing heavenly hosts in Netherlandish art. The postdoc will develop an independent research project aligning with DRESS’s aims, specifically exploring research questions formulated for Work Package 3, “The Material Magdalene in the Early Modern Parish.” The role involves conducting high-quality research, participating in the DRESS research group, and engaging in interdisciplinary activities within the Faculty of Theology and with access to the Museum of Cultural History’s collections.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Religious studies
• Art history
• Related field
Other:
• PhD thesis must be submitted for evaluation by the application deadline, and the degree must be awarded, with the final evaluation available by the end of 2025
• Knowledge of the early modern period, global history, and the cult of saints
• Fluent oral and written communication skills in English
• Adequate reading proficiency in Latin, (Middle) Dutch and (Middle) French
