**Job Description**
This Postdoctoral research assistant position is to strengthen the division 4.2 “Material-Microbiom Interactions” at BAM, focusing on the biological aspects of materials research. The role involves developing and establishing the microbiome topic within the division, with a special emphasis on microbial communities as interfaces between human-made materials and the environment, serving as indicators for safe and sustainable material use.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Professional experience as a postdoc
• Experience in the supervision of qualification theses
• Proven publication activity in the field of microbiome research
• Sound knowledge of microbiological and molecular biological work
• Experience in the acquisition and management of R&D projects and corresponding scientific project management (desirable)
• Confident in independent bioinformatic and statistical analysis of high-throughput sequencing data
• Experience in working with biofilms (desirable)
• Interest in data management and interdisciplinary work
• Good oral and written communication skills in German (advanced level) and English (fluent in spoken and written)
• Good communication and information behavior, goal-oriented and structured way of working, initiative/commitment and ability to make decisions, ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Microbial Ecology
• Molecular Biology
• Microbiology

• High level of physical aptitude
