**Job Description**
This position is for an ambitious researcher with a background in Liquid Crystals to join a collaborative program with Merck Electronics KGaA and the University of Leeds. The role involves working on the design, synthesis, optimisation, and characterisation of liquid crystals for optical devices, conducting research projects, and interacting with the collaborating company. Responsibilities include writing papers, contributing to patent applications, and delivering presentations, with regular travel required to company premises.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Excellent communicator.
• Strong background in liquid crystal related materials synthesis and/or physics and characterisation.
• Direct experience of experimental techniques relevant to the study of liquid crystals or other related soft matter systems.

Required Degree(s) in:
• Liquid Crystal Materials
• Chemistry
• Closely related discipline

**Experience**
Other:
• Experimental PhD degree (or thesis submitted before taking up the role)
• Research experience in Liquid Crystal Materials or Chemistry or a closely related discipline
