**Job Description**
The University of Antwerp is seeking a full-time postdoctoral researcher to work on a two-year strategic basic research project focused on cost-effective functional safety for sustainable process industries. The role involves addressing academic and practical gaps in cost-effectiveness analysis of safety instrumented systems, designing cost models, evaluating system design complexity effects on lifecycle costs, validating findings with field experts, and contributing to the EnvEcon research group’s projects and funding acquisition efforts. The researcher will also assist in supervising PhD students and publishing scientific articles.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Ph.D. in (applied) engineering sciences (chemical engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering, safety engineering)
• Ph.D. in applied economics
• Ph.D. in a similar field
**Experience**
Other:
• 4-10 years of research experience (Economics and Engineering fields)
