**Job Description**
The Department of Earth Sciences is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate with a background in numerical modeling (DEM, FEM, BEM) for the “FastSlip” project. The successful candidate will develop and utilize scale-bridging techniques to model and investigate fault slip in induced seismicity scenarios. This position is part of the DEEPNL research programme, which aims to enhance understanding of human activities’ effects in the subsurface. The role is based at Utrecht University, in collaboration with the University of Twente.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Proven track record of developing and utilising numerical models
• Familiarity with multi-scale or scale-bridging techniques (preferable)
• Experience in computational techniques, such as FEM and BEM
• Experience or strong interest in DEM
• Interest in earthquake / fault mechanics
• Interest in experimental geomechanics
• Adequate social/verbal/communication skills
• Good command of spoken and written English
