**Job Description**
This Postdoctoral Scholar position is in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, within the Mebratu lab. The role focuses on specialized research training to study the role of host cellular proteins in pulmonary inflammation and respiratory virus pathogenesis, including IAV and SARS-CoV-2. The successful candidate will plan and execute complex experiments, analyze data, develop new experimental techniques, contribute to manuscript preparation, and participate in grant applications. The lab utilizes cutting-edge molecular, genetic, and proteomic approaches to investigate viral hijacking of host processes, identify viral protein domains interacting with host proteins, study gene polymorphisms in influenza severity, and examine host cellular protein roles in lung inflammation.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Strong background in molecular biology and/or immunology.
• Experience in virology (plus).
• Experience in immunology (plus).
• Experience in mouse model of human diseases (plus).
• Ability to work independently.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Experience in cell culture (required).
• Opportunity to learn or become more proficient in rodent models of lung injury/inflammation.
• Opportunity to learn or become more proficient in fluorescence imaging.
• Opportunity to learn or become more proficient in flow cytometry.
• Opportunity to learn or become more proficient in proteomics.
• Opportunity to learn or become more proficient in transcriptomics.
• Opportunity to learn or become more proficient in standard biochemical/molecular approaches.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Ph.D.
• M.D.

**Experience**
Experience Required:
• Less than 3 years of postdoctoral experience
Other:
• Strong background and experience in molecular biology techniques (preferably).
• Knowledge and experience in virology, immunology, and mouse model of diseases (pluses).
• Experience in cell culture (required).
