**Job Description**
The Applied Physics Laboratory at the University of Washington (APL-UW) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher to be deeply embedded in a research group that utilizes advanced ultrasound methods for both cardiovascular imaging and cardiac ablation (using high-intensity thermal ultrasound). The position will primarily involve fabrication, characterization (electrical and acoustic), and pre-clinical implementation (ex-vivo and large animal in-vivo studies) of catheter-based cardiac/myocardial ablation. Clinical applications investigated will include ventricular tachycardia and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy septal reduction therapy. Opportunities are available to interface with and participate in research projects in partner laboratories within the Center for Industrial and Medical Ultrasound. Postdocs are encouraged to pursue an independent research program, including writing grant proposals as PIs under supervision.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Experience with transducer and catheter fabrication from raw materials including soldering, irrigation, air-backing, sealing, and epoxy.
• Electronic and acoustic ultrasound characterization knowledge.
• Programming skills in MATLAB.
• CAD software skills.
• Ability to communicate scientific results to both broad and expert audiences, orally and in writing.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Engineering
• Related fields (Doctoral recipients)

**Experience**
Other:
• Must have experience with transducer and catheter fabrication.
• Electronic and acoustic ultrasound characterization knowledge required.
• Programming skills in MATLAB and CAD software skills required.
