The Ashmolean Museum is seeking a Research Assistant to join the Department of Eastern Art, specifically supporting the Curator of Japanese Art. The primary focus of this role is to research and organize a major Japanese kabuki-themed exhibition and a related research project. Responsibilities also include tasks related to the display, interpretation, documentation, and digitisation of the Japanese collections.

• Knowledge of the Ashmolean’s Japanese collections.
• At least one publication in a relevant field.
**Experience**
Other:
• Previous experience of interpreting and cataloguing Japanese art in a museum context (helpful).
• Exhibition curation in the field of Japanese art (helpful).
