**Job Description**
A Research Assistant/Associate position, funded by a Wellcome Trust Collaborative Award in Science, is available in Prof. Dylan Childs’ group at the University of Sheffield. This collaborative project, involving multiple UK universities, investigates the evolutionary mechanisms of ciprofloxacin resistance in chronic lung infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, aiming to discover resistance evolution mechanisms and develop predictive biomarkers. The Sheffield team will specifically develop statistical and machine learning models to identify and validate these predictive biomarkers, and will also explore the host microbiome’s contribution to resistance emergence.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Experience using statistical modelling and data analysis to address predictive or inferential questions in ecological or biological systems.
• Proficiency in implementing and interpreting statistical and ecological process models in R or Julia.
