**Job Description**
A Research Fellow position is available in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton, based at the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Centre. The role focuses on statistics or epidemiology with an interest in preconception, maternal and child health, as part of an NIHR-funded programme. The successful candidate will lead and contribute to quantitative studies to strengthen scientific evidence on the importance and impact of health before pregnancy on maternal and child health outcomes, and on reducing inequalities. This involves developing data analysis plans, managing data, and conducting statistical analysis of national and local routine health datasets, including the ECHILD data resource. The post holder will also explore related questions, lead and contribute to peer-reviewed publications, and work collaboratively with various colleagues and partners to maximise dissemination and impact.

� Previous experience of applying statistical methods to epidemiological studies, including causal inference methodology, is desirable.
