**Job Description**
The Student Assistant will support the Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design department within the School of Human Ecology as a Research Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2025. This role involves supporting Dr. Melisa Spilinek’s research efforts, which explore the intersection of consumer behavior, marketing, material culture, sustainability, young adult consumers, textile science, and practical solutions to challenges in the retail and global soft goods industry. The assistant will contribute to new and ongoing research projects.
**Skills & Abilities**

• Ability to support various constituencies served by the University
• Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position
• Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University’s mission for student success
• Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills

Other:
• Prior experience with qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods research software (SPSS, NVivo, Dedoose, Qualtrics, MAXQDA, etc.)
• Excellent understanding of University Library services, accessing journals online, and the Interlibrary Loan System
